249)   Squires Tavern research - February 5, 2003
                 Walt Landgraf continues research work on Bela Squire and the tavern and farm that he owned during the 19th century.  US census records show that that Bela was first on the list of real estate value held by Barkhamsted residents in 1850 and again in 1860.  Census records of 1840 show five free people of color residing at Bela's house.  Walt is communicating with Squire family members and others in an effort to learn more about the Squires Tavern building, property and families who lived there.
