One of our goals is to preserve and share items pertaining to Barkhamsted
history and culture. We currently have a collection of over 1,000
cataloged items including letters, photos, records, artifacts and furniture.

This blacksmith bellows was used by Henry P. Lane in his blacksmith shop located
in Pleasant Valley during the early 1900's. The bellows was donated to the Historical
Society by Frank and Harriet Bouteiller. James A. Hall owned the house and
property where the blacksmith was located after Lane (and before the
Bouteillers).. Mr. Hall renovated this bellows and also used it
during the 1930's and 1940's.
